Sydney, 24 May 2025 – In a powerful show of international cooperation and forward-thinking leadership, Australian-based research platform ExpertGate hosted its inaugural Global Table Discussion on AI, Research, and Innovations, marking the first in a series of high-level dialogues designed to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming global research and development landscapes.
Held virtually, the session brought together speakers from Asia, Africa, and Australia, representing a wide spectrum of fields including healthcare, education, sustainability, and public policy. The event served as a platform for cross-border knowledge exchange, highlighting both opportunities and ethical responsibilities in the application of AI across sectors.
Chaired by Professor Dr Md Mamun Habib (Bangladesh), the discussion featured a compelling lineup of experts who offered real-world perspectives on how AI is driving innovation and improving outcomes across their respective disciplines.
AI in Health, Education, and Organisational Transformation
Dr Sadhana Srivastava (India) opened with insights into AI’s impact on medical research, noting its growing role in diagnostics, predictive analytics, and personalised healthcare delivery. She stressed the importance of integrating AI into public health systems responsibly to reduce gaps in access and treatment outcomes.
Dr Sandeep Mathur (Australia) followed with a focus on AI-led transformations in organisational management, discussing how intelligent systems are being used in program governance and decision-making frameworks within research and higher education sectors.
Dr Mohammad Riyadh (Australia), Director of Global Research Partnerships at ExpertGate, reinforced the platform’s vision of enabling AI-powered global research collaboration. He highlighted ExpertGate’s work in forming international teams aligned with Australia’s 2026 Science and Research Priorities, and its growing role in bridging academia and industry on a global scale.
Dr Kenny Cheah (Malaysia) explored AI in educational planning and policy development, stressing its potential to support data-driven decision-making at national and institutional levels, especially in emerging economies.
AI for Equity, Sustainability, and Practical Innovation
Dr Hatem El-Shreif (Egypt) offered a perspective on AI’s role in higher education and digital equity, advocating for inclusive policy design to ensure that marginalised communities benefit from advances in AI-based learning systems.
From the Philippines, Dr George Esteban discussed the role of AI in energy optimisation, particularly in the context of renewable energy systems and infrastructure efficiency, while Genevieve Gilmore (Australia) provided a practical overview of how AI is currently improving student learning outcomes through adaptive educational technologies.
Closing the session, Shereen Senarathne (Sri Lanka) highlighted the value of AI in healthcare simulation and nursing education, pointing to its growing role in training healthcare workers and improving clinical readiness in low-resource environments.

Session 1 of the Global Table Discussion set a strong tone for future events, combining high-level expertise with grounded, real-world application.
