Connecting Expert for Everyone, Everywhere

As part of our continued commitment to advancing global research collaboration, I’m pleased to share a significant new initiative from ExpertGate that builds directly on Australia’s 2026 National Science and Research Priorities.

ExpertGate is preparing to lead 20 international, multi-disciplinary research teams, each made up of experts from four different countries, including Australia. These teams will work together to tackle complex, real-world challenges and produce research with measurable global impact.

The initiative is designed to support the 2026 priorities recently set by the Australian Government, which emphasise the need for research that drives innovation, supports national interests, and strengthens international collaboration. Our goal is to ensure Australia remains a leader in knowledge exchange, while also actively partnering with experts across borders to deliver world-class solutions.

Each team will be strategically formed to cover a key research sector where international collaboration can make a meaningful difference. These include artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, health and medical research, clean energy and sustainability, and cross-border innovation systems. By combining diverse regional expertise with a shared commitment to impact, these teams will be well-positioned to produce results that go beyond academic publication, focusing instead on practical application, policy relevance, and long-term value for communities.

At ExpertGate, we believe collaboration should be more than just a buzzword. It should lead to real action, co-designed strategies, and outcomes that reflect the knowledge of many, not just the capacity of one. This initiative represents the next chapter in our mission to remove traditional barriers between academia, government, and industry—across disciplines and across borders.

The momentum so far has been incredibly encouraging. We’ve had strong interest from universities, research institutions, government agencies, and private sector leaders who see this as a timely and valuable step forward. It’s also aligned with the growing recognition that science is a global endeavour—and that no single country, sector, or institution can solve today’s challenges alone.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing more about how these 20 research teams will be structured, how we’re selecting lead investigators, and how Australian and international experts can get involved. We’ll also release more updates aligned with the national science and research priorities of other countries participating in this global program.

Our shared future depends on collaboration that is inclusive, strategic, and focused on solving problems that matter. We’re excited to play a leading role in that journey, and we look forward to working with researchers, innovators, and institutions who are just as committed as we are.

Let’s work together to make global collaboration not just a possibility, but a powerful force for change.
